Under Finisterre’s brand name, the aim was to design a concept store to showcase the brand’s products and ethos. Born to share the love of the sea and the adventure of surfing, the design was made to explore the thresholds between the land and the sea that a cold water surfer experiences and to consider “Land’s End”.
Inspired from the white horses of the waves, the bubble like structure was put to consume the client into the atmosphere and clarify the environment which the clothes are made to survive in using recycled/ reused materials to rase awarness to marine pollution. The design achieves a water-like experience given the store lies next to a large body of water.
Since Finisterre means “land’s end”, the design explores the idea of the threshold between the land and the sea. The space is split into two areas, one representing the land which is formed of several levels. The other, representing the sea or the wave is levelled on sea level with more levels visible below (hence the whole store is raised). And the area in between exploring the thresholds where surfers interact with water.

Given there’s another store in Bristol, the space acts more as a social interaction point for people who share the love of the sea. there are two “empty” spaces of interaction in the store, one of which features a screen for film events that usually take place in their stores.
